Silicone Baking Mat Care, Use & Cleaning Instructions

Please follow these tips to keep your new KPKitchen silicone baking mats in the best conditions so they can work as intended for as long as possible.

  • Before using your silicone baking mats the first time, put them in the dishwasher or wash with warm water, a soap and a sponge and pat or air dry.
  • Don't cut or use sharp objects on the mats or resize them with scissors. This will break the fiberglass fibers and will cause permanent damage. Never use a cut or torn mat! If the mat becomes torn or cut, it cannot be used and must replaced.
  • Please use in combination with a standard baking sheet (half sheet size, quarter sheet size, round 9 inches size or 9x9 inches square pan); place silicone baking mat inside baking sheet and then place food/cookie dough etc. on top of baking mat.
  • Do not fold, do not grease, do not overheat or store items on top of the mat as creasing may cause damage.
  • KPKitchen silicone mats can take temperatures from -40° to 480° F, any temperature above that might cause some burned spots on the mat (watch out especially for any pots, racks etc. that are getting even hotter and have direct contact with the silicone mat)

  • Don't put directly on grill racks since this may make the temperature too hot, or allow the food to drip over the edges which might cause burned spots.
  • Store flat or rolled into a tube.

  • These silicone baking mats can be used in the oven, microwave, or in the freezer.

  • A slick, oily feeling on the mat after cleaning is normal. DO NOT grease the mats; this may cause damage to the silicone. These mats eliminate the need for oils, sprays, tin foil, and parchment paper.

How To Clean Silicone Baking Mats

  1. Dishwasher. Our silicone baking mats are dishwasher safe! Roll them up and place on the top rack of your dishwasher. Fill it up with your other dirty dishes and run a normal cycle. They’ll feel significantly less oily or completely oil-free. If there’s still a little oil residue, try any of the following.
  2. Extremely hot water and grease-fighting dish soap. Soak mats in extremely hot water with a few squirts of grease-fighting or heavy duty dish soap for 20 minutes. Natural varieties don’t work as well for this; use soap designed to tackle tough stains. The water should be piping hot, not warm. Wearing kitchen gloves, scrub clean under the water with a sponge or towel, then dry on a drying rack or with a towel. If the stains are pretty bad, just repeat this process.
  3. Lemon juice. Soak mat(s) in very hot water with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice for 10 minutes. Wearing kitchen gloves, scrub clean under the water with a sponge or towel, then dry on a drying rack or with a towel. Repeat if necessary.
  4. Baking soda. Wet the mat(s) under running water. Turn water off. Generously sprinkle baking soda all over the top. Wearing kitchen gloves, rub the baking soda and residual water droplets together to create a paste, concentrating mostly on the tough stains. Let the paste sit on the mats for 20 minutes, then rinse clean with very hot water. Dry on a drying rack or with a towel. Repeat if necessary. These tricks also work to clean your other silicone bakeware too :)

What can I use the Silicone Baking Mats for?

  • The short answer is just about anything! These handy baking mats can go from oven to freezer and can be used to bake, cook, decorate and even do double duty in making crafts.
  • You can use the mats for baking cookies, scones, chicken, bagels, potatoes, granola, vegetables, fish, caramel corn, decorative chocolate drizzles, meringues, candied nuts, home made bread without a pan, making pizza, or using as a nonstick surface for dipped truffles, toffee, and bark.
  • The round & square silicone baking mats are perfect for all of your round, square & brownie cake pans, adding to the versatility of this ultimate baking mat set.
  • You can also use them for rolling out sugar cookie dough and baking homemade soft pretzels.

The Best Way to Store Your Silicone Baking Mats

  • Roll them up and stash them inside a segment of an empty paper towel tube!

  • Just use scissors to cut a four-inch segment off the empty paper towel tube; it doesn't have to be exact. (And yes, a toilet paper roll works just as well.) Then, roll up your baking mat and slide it through so that the tube sits in the middle. See? You don't need to use the whole tube because that would be too hard to push the mat through, so just a few inches is perfect.

3 Most Asked Questions

1. Can these mats be used in an air fryer?

    • As long as the tempertature doesn't get over 480 degree Fahrenheit, you should be fine :-)

    2. My sheet pan mats are too large; may i cut to fit?

    • Don't cut or resize them with scissors. This will break the fiberglass fibers and will cause permanent damage. Never use a cut or torn mat as it will decrease the longevity of the mat.

    3. Are these mats ok to use on an induction cooktop to help pans from sliding?

    • As long as the temperature is below 480F it should be fine but since most pans and pots can get hotter, it may damage the silicone mats.
So the silicon baking mats can be used on induction. Heat transmits thorugh to metallic pans. But just make sure to not use super high heat setting (below 480F!)
